Background Agent

The Background Agent proposes work for your review. It shares the project with your Conversation and Editing Agents; it is not a hosted service that keeps running after your computer or app stops.

Configure and inspect

Choose a model under Settings → AI Agent, including the Background Agent options. Open Agent → Setup → Background Agents to inspect and control the available background work.

Keep Scholardo running with the relevant project open. Network tasks need a connection; cloud-model tasks use the configured provider and can consume its quota. A sleeping or powered-off computer cannot execute local work.

Where results go

Project → Home brings background activity together. Review To Confirm before accepting proposed research content. Subscription work and feed activity are also managed from Home. See Subscriptions.

Review, do not assume

Open the proposed source and decide whether the suggestion belongs in your project. Accepted knowledge appears in Synthesis. The agents can read annotations but cannot make or change them.

If no work appears, inspect the background controls, configured model, project and any reported failure. Check provider access and connectivity before retrying; repeated cloud calls may incur usage charges.
