Installed — Now What?

3 GIFs + short illustrated guide | For academic users with zero technical background | Your first step right after installation finishes

The AI is installed, the screen has stopped scrolling — now what? This one is short: it tells you what you can do the moment installation finishes, and gives you 5 copy-paste academic prompt templates.

Haven't finished the previous step? Start with P0-1 "5-Minute Quick Start" (Claude subscription) or P0-3 "Complete DeepSeek Setup" (recommended for mainland China).

What happens automatically after installation (nothing for you to do)

Scholardo includes a thoughtful touch here — you don't need to open a new window to start using it:

  1. The install script finishes scrolling.
  2. The "Choose an agent" card automatically reappears, with the row you just installed ready to go.
  3. Click that row and it launches — an empty input box appears at the bottom of the terminal, and you can start typing.

🎬 GIF 1 (core): install scrolling ends → chooser reappears on its own → click the row → input box appears at the bottom. Caption: "When it's done installing, it comes right back — one click and you're in."

If that row shows Retry (a circular-arrow icon), the installation didn't complete — click Retry to try again. Repeated failures are usually a network issue; see the P0-6 FAQ.

🎬 GIF 2: failure state — the row shows Retry; click it to reinstall. Caption: "If you see Retry, don't panic — click it and try again."

What to say first: 5 academic templates

Think of the AI as a research assistant that can read your project files. First, put the files you want to work with into the matching project folder (for example, PDFs go into sources), then give it instructions in plain English in the input box at the bottom. Copy any of these 5 and adapt:

What you wantCopy this (replace the angle brackets with your own content)
Summarize a PDFSummarize the core arguments and conclusions of this PDF in sources
Find related literatureFind a few papers related to the topic of this article, and explain why each one is relevant
Polish a paragraphPolish the following paragraph to make it more academic and fluent: <paste your paragraph>
Extract citationsExtract all the references cited in this PDF and organize them into a list
TranslateTranslate the following paragraph into <target language>, keeping an academic tone: <paste your paragraph>

🎬 GIF 3: type "Summarize the core arguments and conclusions of this PDF in sources" into the input box → press Enter → the answer streams out line by line. Caption: "Just like sending a text — type what you need and press Enter."

💡 Tip: the AI answers in the language of the content itself — give it English material and it replies in English; give it Chinese material and it replies in Chinese. To choose a language, just say so in your prompt (for example, "Summarize this in English").

Record the Scholardo interface using the current release build. Keep GIFs as short 3–6 second loops, with a few extra frames at each end for smooth playback.

Key callouts recap

  1. Auto-reappear (A1): the chooser comes back on its own after install — click the row to launch, no new window needed.
  2. Failure shows Retry: click it to try again; for repeated failures, check your network (→ P0-6).
  3. Write your first prompt in plain English: treat the AI as an assistant that can read your files, and give it instructions directly.
  4. The answer follows the language of your content: to choose a language, just say so.

Data privacy disclosure

When you use the templates above to have the AI read, summarize, polish, or translate your PDFs, notes, or drafts, your manuscript content is sent to your chosen AI provider (Anthropic or DeepSeek, depending on the engine) for processing. The provider handles it under its own privacy policy. Scholardo only sends the necessary content when you actively start a conversation. If your material involves unpublished data, participant privacy, or confidentiality agreements, first confirm that sending it to a third-party AI service complies with your institution's requirements.
